THE CROSSFIT OPEN IS ZERO FUN
The CrossFit Open is a unique and exciting time for CrossFit athletes, and it's important to make the most of it. It’s a great time to support your community, push yourself, and see what progress you’ve made. The Open is one of our favorite times of the year and we will show you how to enjoy the CrossFit Open to the fullest.
1 Set achievable goals: Before the Open starts, set achievable goals for yourself. Unless you have reason to believe you’re going to The Games Finals I wouldn’t set that as a goal. Take stock of your skills and abilities and then set a goal that will stretch you, but is definitely achievable. If you’re not sure, I would get with one of your coaches and walk with them about what a good goal would be. Setting an achievable goal will give you something to work towards and make the experience more rewarding.
2 Connect with your community: The CrossFit Open is a great opportunity to connect with your fellow athletes and cheer each other on. Organize a viewing party, or join a local CrossFit community event to connect with others and celebrate your accomplishments. Polaris PT & Wellness is located inside Gateway Fitness in Gilbert, AZ. They and most CrossFit boxes in Gilbert, Queen Creek, and Mesa have a Friday Night Lights event. This is a cool experience. It allows the community to come together and experience a games-like atmosphere. It’s so amazing to see people come together and support each other no matter their fitness level.
3 Focus on progress: The Open is a great way to track your progress and see how far you've come. The great thing about The Open is it’s recorded and you can see your progress year over year. If you’re new to CrossFit it will allow you to see just how far you’ve come in the time you’ve been doing it. Remember to focus on your own progress, rather than comparing yourself to others. It’s you against you out there!
4 Embrace the challenge: The Open is meant to be a challenge, so embrace it! Try to push yourself out of your comfort zone and see what you're capable of. You’ll be surprised what you’re capable of when you are competing with your friends, when people are cheering you on, the music is thumping, and the adrenaline is flowing. Lean into the suck and you’ll be rewarded with a performance you didn’t know you were capable of..
5 Celebrate your successes: Whether you hit a personal record or simply finished a workout, take time to celebrate your successes during the Open. Reward yourself for your hard work, and acknowledge your achievements.
